Life in the Doghouse is an intimate, character-driven documentary that follows Danny Robertshaw and Ron Danta, whose lives are devoted to saving the most vulnerable dogs through their organization, Danny & Ron's Rescue. Their mission took on national significance in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, when they rescued over 600 displaced animals—an effort that would define the scale and urgency of their work for years to come.

Since then, Danny and Ron have saved more than 11,000 abused, abandoned, and neglected dogs, offering them something rare in the rescue world: a real home. Rather than kennels, the dogs live alongside them—sometimes as many as 75 at a time—becoming part of a deeply personal process of rehabilitation, trust, and love until the right family is found.

Through humor, heartbreak, and extraordinary compassion, the film reveals a radical approach to rescue that challenges conventional systems and redefines what it means to care for animals. At its core, Life in the Doghouse is a powerful call to rethink adoption, responsibility, and the profound bond between humans and dogs.
